A SECTION of a main road through Salisbury will be closed for five days next week.

Wiltshire Council has announced that the A3094 Netherhampton Road will be closed in both directions next week between its junction with Lower Road at Quidhampton and the A36 (Wilton Road).

The council said the road would be closed to all vehicles 24 hours a day between Monday, February 12 and Friday, February 16 to reconstruct the road.

A statement from the council said “The full closure will see the road rebuilt and repaired, with depressions being dug out to improve the surface and prevent further damage.

"While the road is closed, the council will also carry out other minor repairs, such as hedge clearing and gully cleaning.”

Councillor Caroline Thomas, cabinet member for transport, said: “This is an essential project to rebuild the road and improve it for years to come.

“We are carrying out this work during half-term to try to minimise disruption as much as possible, but there may be some delays and diversions will be in place throughout the week.

“To make the most of the road closure and minimise disruption in the future, we are also using this closure to carry out additional maintenance along the road.”
