A MAN is set to stand trial accused of causing a fatal crash on the A338.

Dannie O’Leary, 29, has appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court following the crash that killed 31-year-old George Greaves.

Emergency services were called to the A338 spur road on June 15 last year to a crash involving a Nissan Micra and Lexus GS300.

The front seat passenger of the Nissan, Mr Greaves, was pronounced dead at the scene, with two other occupants from the vehicle taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

Yusif Muzil, the Lexus driver, was jailed for 12 years last September for causing death by dangerous driving and two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Following further enquiries by police, O’Leary, of London, was arrested.

He was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as fraudulent use of a registration mark or registration document and causing death by driving a vehicle with no insurance or where the driver is unlicensed.

O’Leary appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court via video link for a case management hearing on Friday, February 16.

A trial date has been set for June 10 this year.

A third defendant, James Connors, 29, of Solihull in the West Midlands, is also accused of being involved in the crash.

He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death by driving whilst disqualified, causing death by driving a vehicle with no insurance or where the driver is unlicensed and fraudulent use of a registration mark

He appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 1, before the case was sent to Bournemouth Crown Court.
