A POWER cut in the Amesbury area is affecting more than 6,000 homes.
In a statement on its website, SSEN says: "We're very sorry for the power cut and are aware of a fault on our main network affecting 6,380 homes.
"This is affecting a large area and it's likely several streets in the area are affected by the same outage."
It adds that it is in the process of arranging for engineers to get to area, but that it does not expect power to be restored until 4am.
The company also says that the cause of the power cut is a fault on its underground network, which "is the most common type of fault" it sees.
We’re sorry for the #POWERCUT affecting #AMESBURY and the surrounding areas of Salisbury. Engineers are en-route and expect to have the power back on by 4am.
