A WOMAN was caught on film trying to touch the stones at Stonehenge, ignoring warnings from security.

The video shows the tourist disregarding the rules at the English Heritage site, as she walks among the stones, reaches down and touches one, while clearly being told no to by a member of staff.

Originally published in September 2023, the TikTok video from @kevintnorman went viral at the beginning of April, being shared by various national news outlets.

While visitors to Stonehenge are able to walk around the stones, they are not allowed to touch them. Ropes and markings are in place to prevent tourists from damaging the ancient stones.

In previous years, visitors were allowed to get much closer to the stones, but restrictions were put in place after acts of vandalism.

In the comments, one TikTok user said: "Okay at places like this the security should have the right to detain until"

A different user said: "Police come. People can be so entitled now that they just don’t care if someone is just following telling them to stop."

Another user shared memories of a time when visitors could interact with the stones: "As a kid we used to sit on them, no fences, no security nothing but a field you'd park on and wonder over."

Another added: "I grew up a short distance from Stonehenge, we used to picnic there, but people started drawing on and taking pieces of the stones, now its fenced."
