A WOMAN was cut free from a car which crashed into a lorry on the A303.

The crash happened on the A303 at Chicklade at the junction with the A350 at around 1pm today, Monday, April 8 and involved a car and a lorry.

The woman sustained injuries, but police said that they are not thought to be life-threatening.

An eyewitness to the incident told the Journal: "The car swerved over the lines and hit the lorry. The driver was stuck in the car and it took them quite a while to get her out.

"They are using the lay-by the let traffic pass through."

An orange Skoda and a blue DAF HGV were involved in the crash. Both sustained visible damage.

A statement from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and rescue service reads: "We were called to the A303 at Chicklade, the junction with the A350, at 1.01pm this afternoon (April 8) after a car and lorry were in collision.

"Two crews from Shaftesbury and one from Warminster attended, and one casualty was cut free from the car. Our stop was at 2.39pm."

Wiltshire Police said: "We were called to a collision on the A303 eastbound at Chicklade just before 1pm today involving a car and lorry.

"The driver of the car has sustained injuries which are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

"Drivers should avoid the area while the incident is dealt with."
