Wiltshire's Alzheimer's Support Day Care Team has triumphed at the prestigious Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards.
The team, running four clubs across the county, secured the coveted Dementia Care Award. Recognising exceptional contributions within the not-for-profit sector, the awards now are in their 10th year. Organisers praised the Team's dedication to providing group activities in an understanding and supportive environment.
Not only do they foster true friendships between members, volunteers, and their team, but their approach to dementia care focusses on understanding individuals' characters and backgrounds.
Sarah Marriott, CEO at Alzheimer’s Support said: "We’re incredibly proud to win the Dementia Care Award and to have had the opportunity to be among so many inspiring individuals and groups who make up the not-for-profit care sector.
"The hard working and inspirational teams that run our day clubs in Wiltshire are very much deserving of this recognition. They bring much-needed respite to their communities, serving not only those with dementia but the families who are often struggling to cope. I am very proud to be part of this wonderful team."
Next year's entries will open later this year, welcoming not-for-profit staff to participate.
