A poignant shot of one of Bolton’s industrial landmarks.
This photo was taken in February 1964 when an announcement had been made that Musgrave Spinning Company was to close mill number six at its Atlas Mill complex off Chorley Old Road.
At its height there were a staggering 450,000 spindles working together at the complex, making it the largest operation in Bolton.
Other mills were demolished but mill six survived and has been used for a number of businesses.
