PLUMES of smoke could be seen near Stonehenge yesterday as a car caught fire.
Fire crews attended the small black car on the A303 westbound on Saturday, May 12.
Eyewitnesses said there were delays on the road until the wreckage was removed.
A Wiltshire Fire Service spokesman said: "We received a call at 11.24am yesterday morning about a vehicle fire on the A303 Stonehenge Road. A crew from Amesbury attended the incident which involved a single vehicle, well alight and spreading to the verge. One breathing apparatus wearer used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and our stop was at 11.52am."
Wiltshire Police has been contacted for more information.
