Wilton Riding for the Disabled Association are raising money for a new outdoor riding school.

Wilton Riding for the Disabled Group at The Pembroke Centre is aiming to raise £7500 through a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a new outdoor riding school.

After many years of use, the current outdoor space is worn and needs urgent replacing.

Sport England have awarded a conditional offer of £7,500 to Wilton Riding for the Disabled Association for the Outdoor Arena based on the amount being matched through the campaign.

The Pembroke Centre Wilton RDA has been providing therapeutic riding for children and adults for over 40 years, offering riders the chance to develop their balance and co-ordination, gain muscle strength and build up their all-important core muscles.

The Pembroke Centre at Wilton currently works with more than 200 children and adults each year.

Chair of trustees Jackie Worrall said: “We want to ensure that we can continue to provide riding for everyone

“Replacement of the outdoor arena is critical to all our riders who benefit enormously, both physically and mentally through the interaction with the ponies. Riders gain confidence and self-esteem while they socialise and build relationships with other riders, volunteers and ponies.

“That relationship with a pony brings incalculable benefits”.
