The Stars Appeal is looking for participants to take part in a charity trek across India.

The Dalai Lama trek in north east India sets off in April 2026, starting in Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama, and over the five days of trekking walkers will wind up steep and hilly paths reaching altitudes of 3,200m, resting in mountainside campsites at night.

Potential trekkers are invited to an information evening in October to find out more.

Volunteer challenge manager Jo Maslen said: “Our treks bring together people of all ages and backgrounds, including hospital consultants and midwives, 80-year-olds and twenty somethings.

“The money the trekkers raise will enable the Stars Appeal to do even more for patients, their families and staff across the hospital by funding state-of-the-art equipment, enhancements to buildings, and ongoing projects including Stars Appeal Wi-Fi, emergency patient clothing and wellbeing support for patients with cancer.”

The Stars Appeal is asking all trekkers to raise at least £2,000 each.

At the trek information evening on Wednesday, October 9, potential trekkers can find out about the trek, the challenges, training and fundraising. They will be able to ask questions and sign up to the trek on the night.
