A WILTSHIRE vineyard has scooped a coveted award for its high-quality wine.
Domaine Hugo, an organic and biodynamic vineyard near Downton, has been awarded the Trophy for the best traditional method sparkling wine at the WineGB Awards 2024.
The prestigious competition for the English and Welsh wine industry has an annual ceremony in London, and includes entries from both small boutique and large big brand UK producers.

Domaine Hugo was judged by an esteemed panel chaired by Susie Barrie MW, Oz Clarke OBE, and Peter Richards MW alongside Rebecca Palmer (Corney & Barrow), Matt Horsley (The Wine Society), Giles James (ID Wines), Dan Farrell-Wright (Wickhams), Matt Hodgson (Grape Britannia), and Rebecca Mitchell (Rebecca M Wines).
Hugo Stewart has been producing his Domaine Hugo English sparkling wine since its first vintage in 2018, in collaboration with Offbeat Wines, also based on the Hugo’s farm on the chalk downlands above the village of Downton.
His wine has been received extremely well within the industry and by wine lovers in the UK and abroad, but this is its first national award.
It can be bought locally at Wiltshire Makers, in the Old George Mall in Salisbury, and at Stone, Vine and Sun wine merchants in Stockbridge. There is a full list of stockists on their website www.domainehugo.co.uk
