A PRIVATE school in Ringwood has celebrated its 50th anniversary by taking part in this year’s Ringwood Carnival.
Ringwood Waldorf School, in Folly Farm Lane, St Ives, submitted a float for the event, winning both first prize and the best in show award for its efforts.
Founded in 1974, the carnival float also allowed the school to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Following an on-campus festival which took place earlier this month, the school continued its celebrations with the float, with carnival-goers able to experience the creativity and community that have defined the school’s ethos.

Geli Patrick, school lead and chair of the senior management team at Ringwood Waldorf School, said: “We are so excited to be celebrating the school’s 50th birthday.
“Taking part in the Ringwood Carnival is the next step in our 50th anniversary celebrations, which are set to last the whole year. Our school has literally been built from the ground up by parents and our school community over the past five decades. And we have ambitious plans for the next few years, further developing the school, with more buildings to accommodate future additional pupils wanting to join.
“The carnival float has been built with this same passion. Our massive dragon that ties in with the school’s Michaelmas celebrations is something to behold!”
Ringwood Waldorf School is a co-educational independent school catering for pupils aged three to eighteen. Located on the edge of the New Forest, the school is dedicated to educating children according to the pedagogical principles of Rudolf Steiner.
