Two dogs attacked a pregnant sheep in the Wiltshire countryside on a farm on Friday.
On Friday, March 21, some motorists were driving along the A303 by Fonthill Farms and stopped to witness the incident.
Two large dogs were spotted attacking a pregnant ewe, they were dragging it and the dogs were said to be 'in a complete frenzy.'
The onlookers said the ewe appeared to still be alive at this point, but a lamb was spotted on the ground behind the ewe. The dogs had ripped the ewe open resulting in the lamb being removed.
Owner of the sheep, Keith Darling said: "Police are dealing with this - the ewes are 3 weeks from lambing, dogs ripped her open hence why lambs are on the ground.
"If anyone has videos or more pics please contact 101."
In a statement, Wiltshire Police have said: "We are investigating a report of livestock worrying that occurred on farmland at Chicklade Bottom, Fonthill Bishop, on Friday morning.
"Several people informed us that two loose dogs had attacked sheep in a field adjacent to the A303 and one had been killed.
"Officers arrived just after 10.38 am and located the owners of the dogs 50 metres from the incident area with a dead ewe.
"While our investigation is ongoing, we would urge dog owners to be responsible and keep their dogs on a lead at all times while near animals during lambing season."

It is also not clear if either the lamb or the ewe survived but the rest of the mob were bunched up and some distance away.
People on Facebook made their thoughts clear about this.
One person said: "Hopefully the dogs were shot, or have been caught and the owner will be prosecuted and should be banned from keeping dogs for life."
