Salisbury Nadder and Avon riverside walk to explore change

Starting at the new Broken Bridges Nature Reserve in Salisbury, the route forms part of the Salisbury Civic Society’s ‘The Nadder and Avon: Urban Rivers’.

The walk, which will take place on Tuesday, June 23, will be led by Hadrian Cook and explore changes in land use and urban development.

Hadrian said: "From Broken Bridges we will cross the Nadder floodplain to West Harnham looking at the development of the village and the river there.

"In East Harnham we’ll talk about the settlement at the Ayleswade Bridge and finally, in Churchill Gardens, outline the history of the Avon in Salisbury."

The event has been welcomed by Jeremy Nettle, chairman of the Broken Bridges Nature Reserve.

"This inspiring and informative walk and talk from the Civic Society, showcasing our beautiful natural spaces, is perfectly in tune with our goals."

Those taking part are asked to meet where Lower Road meets the Broken Bridges path at 2pm.

The route is less the three miles but may be muddy.
