A SALISBURY funeral celebrant has been shortlisted for two national awards recognising excellence in funeral care.
Richard Smart, founder of The Smartly Said Celebrant, is a finalist in both the Most Promising Newcomer in the Funeral Industry and Celebrant of the Year categories at the 2026 Good Funeral Awards.
The awards recognise excellence in funeral care across the UK.
Mr Smart, who works with families across Salisbury, Ringwood, Bournemouth, Poole and the wider South Coast, has become known for his modern, personal approach to funeral ceremonies.

He said: "Every family deserves a farewell that feels honest and personal.

"Being shortlisted in both categories is something I never expected, particularly so early in my career.

Mr Smart launched his independent celebrancy business less than two years ago, drawing on more than 15 years of experience in communications and events.
He uses this background to write bespoke ceremonies that capture personality, humour and the stories that made each person unique.
His work has attracted hundreds of five-star reviews and has been featured by the BBC and regional media.
His work has also helped encourage more open conversations around grief, funerals and celebrating life.
The Good Funeral Awards are regarded as one of the most respected honours within the funeral profession, recognising those who provide exceptional care to bereaved families.
Winners will be announced later this year at the national Good Funeral Awards.
