A MAN suffered a 'medical episode' at the wheel before crashing into another vehicle in Salisbury.
Matthew Wain, 46 of Russell Road in Salisbury, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 24 charged with drink driving.
Mr Wain pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
The court heard that on April 27, Mr Wain was driving his Range Rover along Exeter Street in Salisbury city centre before crashing into a white Mercedes van and hitting a wall.
The incident caused a partial closure of Exeter Street, and two police cars, one ambulance and one fire engine attended the scene.

After being checked over by paramedics, Mr Wain failed a breath test and was found with 59mg of alcohol in his system.
In mitigation, Mr Jones told the court: "Mr Wain had a very significant and very intense job. Because of this he suffered from a nervous breakdown and was medically discharged from his position. He became alcohol dependant.
"On April 27, Mr Wain was driving and had a medical episode and blacked out in the car, causing the accident."
The court heard that Mr Wain had a full clean licence and no previous convictions. He had hoped to obtain funding to go on an alcohol detox and has sought help.
After hearing all of the evidence, Mr Wain was disqualified from driving for 15 months and ordered to pay £253 in fines to the court.
