A 26-year-old man has been jailed after admitting to a series of assaults against his partner during a brief relationship.
Billy Conners, formerly of Castle Road in Salisbury, was sentenced to 19 months in prison at Salisbury Crown Court on July 27, after pleading guilty to two counts of assault.
In April, his victim, a woman in her 30s from Melksham, reported to police that she had been assaulted multiple times during their two-month relationship.
The first incident took place on March 30, when Conners bit the victim, spat on her, and verbally abused her with derogatory language.

Two days later, he pushed her to the floor after accusing her of messaging other people.
On April 2, Conners pushed her to the ground again, kicked her in the head, punched her in the ribs and face, and spat in her face.
When she tried to leave, he blocked her from exiting the property.
Fortunately, the woman did not suffer serious injuries.
Conners was arrested, charged, and remanded into custody.
T/DC Hannah Ferris, based in Central CID, said: "Conners’ behaviour was absolutely abhorrent, and I want to commend the victim for having the strength to report his abuse to the police.
"Her courage in coming forward and detailing the awful assaults that Conners committed against her has meant that a domestic abuser has been put behind bars.
"Cases such as this demonstrate the importance of our commitment to reducing and preventing violence against women and girls, one of the Force’s three key priorities.

Victims who are unable to speak during a 999 call can dial 999 and then press 55 to make a silent emergency call.
