A CCTV image of a man has been released after a tool being used for roadworks in Fordingbridge was stolen.

The theft took place around 2pm on July 22 in Marl Lane and involved a wacker plate, a heavy motorised tool used to compress and flatten materials such as soil, sand, gravel, and asphalt.

Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We believe the man in this image can help us with our investigation and would urge him, or anyone who knows his identity, to get in touch with us.

"Also, if you witnessed anything of the incident, or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, please contact us."
