GCSE students are celebrating strong results after overcoming years of pandemic disruption.

Year 11 pupils at The Trafalgar School matched the school's high performance from 2025, which saw it ranked as the highest-performing non-selective school in South Wiltshire.

Headteacher Jy Taylor said: "We are so proud of all of our students, many of whom have faced exceptional challenges and overcome many barriers in order to achieve their grades.

"We all know that Covid didn’t end with the final ‘lockdown’ and for many of these children, the social impact of the pandemic has lasted throughout their secondary education.

"No matter what their results, they and their families should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved."

This cohort was the last group to have their transition to secondary school disrupted by Covid-19, missing out on open evenings, school visits, and Year 6 SATS.

Despite these challenges, students achieved "a strong set of GCSE grades," the school said.

Among the highest achievers were students Eva and Amelie, who both earned a suite of the top Grade 9s and two Grade 8s.

Mr Taylor said: "Some of our students have performed exceptionally highly, demonstrating that it’s not only children at the selective schools locally who can celebrate the very top grades.

"Every day I witness their effort and commitment to following the most aspirational pathways and I am proud that attending their local school allows them to do just that."

Students will now move on to a variety of destinations, with many staying within the Magna Learning Partner family at S6C.

Others have secured places at Ringwood School, Brockenhurst and Wiltshire colleges, and the two Salisbury grammar schools.

Mr Taylor said: "Of course, the success of all of our students is shared by their families and our staff – the support team around these exceptional children.

"I am grateful for everything they have done over the last 5 years that have allowed our children to be so successful."

Students, families and staff at The Trafalgar School are celebrating this morning as the Year 11s collect their GCSE results.
