A BESTSELLING Salisbury author is returning to the city, giving fans a chance to meet him and talk about his latest book.

Edward Rutherfurd, whose first book, Sarum, was based on the history of Salisbury, will be speaking at the Guildhall on October 27 at 7.30pm. He will also be signing books afterwards and discussing his latest book, New York.

Rutherfurd was born in Salisbury and returned to his childhood home in 1983 to write Sarum, which became an international bestseller. Since then he has written another five epic historical novels, which have all been bestsellers, and his book sales have sold in the region of eight million copies.

In 2005, the City of Salisbury commemorated his services to the city by naming a walkway leading off the Market Place, between the Guildhall and Reeves the Baker, ‘Rutherfurd Walk’.
