the Very Revd June Osborne, Dean of Salisbury is preaching in St Martin-in-the-fields, London at a service which will be recorded live on air by BBC Radio 4 at 8.00pm. Mass is sung by the Daily Service Singers and the Choir of St Martin’s.

Cathedral Festival Day, Sunday 16 May -

with Festival Eucharist at 10.30am, preacher The Right Revd Christopher Herbert (formally the Bishop of St Albans), and Evensong at 3.00pm is replaced by the ‘Marian Procession’ celebrating Mary’s journey through life.

Canons Installed at Evensong and Presentation of St Aldhelm Crosses, Friday 28 May at 5.30pm -

the Bishop installs Lord Sherman of Redlynch and The Revd Stephen Batty as Cathedral Canons during Evensong.

New Activity Trail -

families will soon be able to enjoy a new activity trail leaflet with specially drawn illustrations and a trail that takes children around key stopping points, with questions to answer and activities to complete.

Visitor Research Continues -

The Cathedral’s 2009 visitor research represents the most substantial work done to date to find out more about our visitors.

It has prompted plenty of ideas to improve both what we offer them and ways to increase the numbers who come here.

The research continues this year and will enable us to make year on year comparisons to aid our work.

Recycling Rubbish in the Close -

Picnickers can now recycle their glass and plastic bottles, drinks cans and general rubbish, thanks to the support of Compass Group UK & Ireland, who provide the catering at the Cathedral’s Refectory. Special recycle bins have been located at key points around The Close.
