The brilliant and virtuosic performer and composer Iain Quinn performs a superbly eclectic programme of music in his organ recital at the Cathedral on Wednesday 14 July.

Quinn, who has won critical acclaim for his performances of both standard and contemporary works, performs music by Bach, Glazunov, Schumann and Saint-Saëns, the UK premiere of Samuel Barber’s Prelude and Fugue in B minor, his excellent arrangement of Rachmaninoff’s Barcarolle, Op 10, and his virtuosic Toccata which uses almost the full range of the Cathedral’s famous Father Willis organ.

Graham Barber, another superb organist, has chosen a completely different style of programme which is focused on British and German music for his recital on Wednesday 11 August.

His career playing at St Bartholomew’s, Leeds has been successfully combined with teaching, research and academia, and is well known to Salisbury organ lovers for the excellent CD he recorded on our famous Father Willis organ.

His programme includes Philip Wilby’s Music for the Iron Voice, Howells’ Master Tallis’s Testament, Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B minor, BW V 544 and two pieces by Karg-Elert, on whom Barber is an authority, Valse Mignonne, Opus 142 No 2, and the Introduction, Passacaglia and Fugue on BACH, Opus 150.

Tickets, £8.00 for each recital, from 01722 320333, or at the door.

Recitals begin at 7.30pm.
