Six boys took part in a special ceremony in the Cathedral in May when Henry Cooper, 13, from Salisbury, was appointed Head Boy Chorister and five younger boys admitted as full choristers into the Cathedral Choir.
David Halls, Director of Music, said: “It was a lovely service and good to see so many friends and supporters of the youngsters sharing this important day with them. Henry Cooper’s new appointment is due reward for his ongoing leadership throughout the year and gives him the authority he deserves within the boys’ choir.”
The new choristers are Alexander Halls and Alex Tan, both 9, from Salisbury, Nicolas Fletcher, 9, from Alderbury, Benjamin Harding, 10, from Urchfont, near Devizes, and Joss Nelson, 10, from Wilton. “It is always exciting training new choristers. This year’s boys are a particularly lively group and are going to be great fun to work with.”
The Cathedral Choir’s annual ‘Be a chorister for a day event’, open to boys and girls in school years 2, 3 and 4 is on Saturday 13 November. For further details and an application form email: s.flanaghan@salcath.co.uk or telephone 01722 555148.
