PEOPLE in the Amesbury area are being urged to apply for a grant to help improve life in their community.

The Amesbury Area Board has £45,000 left to help community and voluntary groups and parish and town councils in this financial year with much-needed projects.

Since it was set up in June 2009 the area board has so far awarded £40,000 to 21 schemes.

These have included new allotments in Steeple and Hanging Langford, village hall improvements in Bulford, Milston, Orcheston and Wylye, and activities for young people in Amesbury, Durrington and Larkhill.

Community grant funding is allocated according to the area's local priorities with the final decision being taken by unitary councillors at area board meetings.

The application process is simple and people can find out more by visiting www.wiltshire.gov.uk/areaboards , or by contacting Karen Linaker, Amesbury community area manager, on 01722 434697 or karen.linaker@wiltshire.gov.uk
