CHILDREN at Ringwood Infant School met two real live authors on World Book Day.

In addition to the excitement of coming to school dressed as their favourite book character they were able to create their own stories with the help of Helen and David Orme, who have written scores of children’s books.

The youngsters in Year 2 also got to taste lots of different cheeses when they met a specialist from Waitrose.

Steph Atkinson, from the school, said: “It was a wonderful way to celebrate reading and the pleasure that books bring.

“The visiting authors provided an inspiring workshop on both fiction and non-fiction writing, and the cheese tasting was a fantastic culmination to the Year 2 integrated curriculum based on the Lighthouse Keeper stories.”
