A HUGE blaze broke out at a historic market pub in Salisbury last night.
At its height up to 100 firefighters from across Wiltshire and surrounding counties were battling the fire at the Market Inn.
Witnesses reported flames leaping from the roof of the pub as the fire spread to a neighbouring fish and chip shop.
The fire started just after midnight at the pub in Butcher Row in the heart of Salisbury.
The pub was first granted a licence in 1742, when it was was known as the Mitre. After several changes of name, it became the Market Inn from 1875.
Smoke was still coming from the roof of the pub this morning as dozens of firefighters from Wiltshire were still battling the fire.
A fire spokesman said no one had to be rescued and was reported missing or injured.
