GAVIN Bindon and Genevieve Tarsky have been engaged for four and a half years but have been unable to afford the wedding of their dreams.

The couple, both 26, met about five and a half years ago at a live music gig in Salisbury.

Genevieve said: “We met at a music hall after both being persuaded to go out with our friends. We knew from the moment we met that we were meant to be and the romance flourished. It just worked.”

The couple started dating and soon afterwards they moved in together.

When they were out celebrating their first anniversary, Genevieve had arranged for her friend to decorate their flat with rose petals to surprise Gavin on their return.

When the couple came home, Gavin followed the rose petals and Genevieve got down on one knee to propose.

Since getting engaged the couple have been unable to save enough for their perfect wedding.

Gavin, a security guard, lost his job soon after they bought their first place together.

When he found work again he was working 12 hour night shifts. Genevieve said: “It has been tough this last year as we barely saw each other. He’d already have left for work by the time I finished for the day.”

When they thought their luck couldn’t get any worse, the couple both lost their jobs in March this year on the same day.

They have now found work again but the wedding of their dreams is still out of reach.

“We are trying to save again but bad luck seems to follow us around,” said Genevieve. “It would mean absolutely everything for us to win the competition; we could get our flat done and start preparing for a family.

All we have wanted to do is get married.”
