A COUPLE who have been unable to afford to get married since the birth of their daughter are hoping to win in a competition.

The couple met in Tilshead in 2006 and moved in together a few months later.

The hopeful bride-to-be, 22, said: “We knew this was it, the real thing.”

Soon after, she was diagnosed with depression and signed off from work but says her fiance has supported her through her illness.

He proposed to her in front of her family in Shrewton in 2008 and the following year they moved to Oxford for a fresh start.

The couple eventually found jobs and began building a future together when they discovered she was pregnant.

Their daughter is now six months old and they would love to marry.

She said: “I have always dreamed of my big wedding day since I was a little girl and we just want a special day to announce our undying love for each other because without each other life honestly wouldn’t be worth living.

“The competition is the only way I think we’ll ever be able to get married.”

Winning the competition would also mean the groom's family, who are from Poland, could attend their big day.

The couple are currently in the process of moving back to Salisbury.

“Finally getting married would just be the best thing that could ever happen to us. We have always struggled and survived on our own but with this we need help,” said the hopeful bride-to-be.
