KIMBERLEY Walter entered the Journal’s Win Your Wedding competition so she can become fiancé Matthew Pickersgill’s “bag for life.”

The couple, both 24, met in 2003 when they were both working at Tesco Metro in Salisbury.

“I had only been there a few weeks when I noticed a guy working on the produce department. One evening, he came to my till where we had a brief nervous chat. I was so embarrassed but, later that evening, while I was on my break, we got chatting,” said Kimberley.

They were together for about six months but, at the age of 16, felt they were too young for a relationship so decided to just be friends.

Kimberley, who works for the MoD in Larkhill, went away to college but, when she came back a year later, they got back together.

“We haven’t looked back since,” said Kimberley. “We couldn’t believe how much in common we had, and how often our paths had crossed.”

The couple, who have just bought their first house together in Durrington, got engaged on Christmas Eve last year.

Kimberley said: “Matt and I were finishing the last of the wrapping when he got down on one knee with a small wrapped box and proposed. I couldn’t believe it and definitely didn’t see it coming, I’m still in shock now.”

Kimberley and Matthew, who still works for Tesco, are keen to start a family but have been putting it off until they’re married.

“I’ve struggled with poor health over the last few years but Matt has always been by my side without a second thought. He is my rock. It would be great to round off an eventful year by officially knowing I will be his ‘bag for life’.”
