AFTER a run of bad luck, Anna Barrett and Christopher Wilson have entered the Journal’s Win Your Wedding competition to make their dreams come true.

The couple met 12 years ago at a friend’s birthday party. After a few false starts, they feel their relationship is stronger than ever.

Anna, 30, said: “We broke up a couple of times as I was only 19 and he wasn’t much older, but we always met back in the middle; we have always been very good friends.”

In 2007, Anna proposed to Chris, 33, live on the radio and they have dreamed of a perfect wedding ever since.

“I told his friend I wanted to do it so he made sure Chris was listening to the radio at work. He phoned the radio back and said ‘yes’ live on air,” said Anna.

Since then, the couple have had a lot of bad luck come their way, and they have been unable to afford to get married.

In 2008, Anna lost her business and the couple, who have two children, have had to pay back debts.

Caring for relatives has also meant it has been difficult to save money. Anna said: “Last year, my mum was diagnosed with cancer, which was a really hard time for us as a family as my granddad was also very ill with liver disease.

“At times, we were helping to look after my granddad and mum while still working and looking after our family.”

Anna now works at the Old Ale House in Salisbury and Chris works as a dog warden in Coombe Bissett.

Anna said: “We would love to get married but we haven’t ever been able to have the money. I want my mum and granddad to be able to seeme getmarried and enjoy the day.”
