MADELEINE Rudd had just about given up on true love when she found her prince charming, Matthew Micallef.

After several years of being unlucky in love, Madeleine met Matthew through a dating website and he moved to Salisbury from Swindon four months later so they could be together.

Madeleine, 30, said: “When I met Matt, I just couldn’t believe I had met somebody so nice, he has supported me and completely changed my life.”

Matthew, 34, unexpectedly proposed to Madeleine in March last year near their home at Old Sarum.

“He had arranged to propose to me at a music festival but that was four weeks away. He couldn’t wait any longer so he just did it out of the blue at the end of our road; he got down on one knee in the rain,”

said Madeleine.

“He was so disappointed with the way he proposed that he wants to make our wedding special,” she said.

The couple have had to put back getting married as they haven’t been able to afford it.

Madeleine said: “Winning the competition would mean I could pay to fly my brother over from Australia to be there at the wedding.”

Madeleine’s sister Stephanie, who nominated the couple for the competition, said: “I feel it is about time something good happened in my sister’s life.

“Seeing her now with Matthew is such a joy to witness, they glow as a couple.”
