A COUPLE from Middle Woodford, who first met as teenagers, have entered the Journal’s Win Your Wedding competition so they can finally get married after a 12-year engagement.

Paul Lancaster and Angela Robson met in 1995 and became friends but lost touch when Angela went away to college.

A year later they got together after meeting up at a party and, after nine months together, Paul, 31, proposed.

Paul, who works at Multitex in Salisbury, and Angela, who is a childminder, have three children, Tamara, 11, Joel, six and four-year-old Skyla.

Angela, 30, whose sister is engaged to Paul’s brother, said: “When we started our family we were young and we started out with nothing. We have since worked very hard to provide for our family and only now have we managed to start saving for our wedding.”

“We have been engaged for so long my engagement ring could not even stand the test of time, therefore, I no longer have one,” she added.

The couple are also keen to get married so the family all have the same surname.

“My eldest daughter asks us when we’ll get married all the time so I can have the same surname,” said Angela. “But unless we wait another ten years and save, without this competition it will never be what we have dreamed of.”
