CHILDREN at Mere Primary School have been expressing their creativity with workshops in mosaic making.

Wiltshire-based artist Joanna Dewfall visited the school and worked with the children to produce mosaic tiles that the youngsters could take home.

Year 4 students focused on Indian patterns while Year 5 looked at Roman designs, to tie in with their history and geography studies.

Maths skills were also put to the test, with children dividing up the squares and calculating which size was the best to use, as well as how many were needed to cover the entire tile.

Staff and children are hoping Mrs Dewfall will return when the entrance to the school is transformed, to help them produce a mosaic panel for the new structure.
