Salisbury Cathedral hosted the 30th anniversary of the girls choir last Saturday evening (October 9).

More than 80 former and current girl choristers, along with adult singers and the South Bank Sinfonia, performed a Gala Concert to an audience of around 900 people.

Along with solos from former choristers Camilla Harris and Amy Carson (the youngest of the original choristers), the evening premiered a new work, The Pearl, by composer Roxanna Panufnik, commissioned specially for the event.

The Very Rev Nicholas Papadopulos, Dean of Salisbury, said: “The atmosphere in the Cathedral was joyous.

“Former choristers and their families were reunited with great excitement, and the music they made was utterly magnificent.”
