MORE than 200 people went along to Downton History Group’s open afternoon at Downton Memorial Hall on September 15.
The event was in celebration of the group being awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant, which will go towards the development of its website.
On display were items from Downton’s Roman past, and the group’s archive and photographs, as well as a Second World War display from the New Forest National Park Authority.
Visitors were also treated to demonstrations and displays by soldiers and centurions of the 9th Roman Legion from Butser Ancient Farm.
