CALLING all former players, parents and supporters! Wilton and District Youth Band celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. A number of events are being planned, including a reunion concert, and we would be delighted to see you there. The band has had a packed summer and has recently spent a weekend recording a CD, 50 Years On, which will feature a new brass band piece called A Wilton Theme and Toccata, specially written for the band's anniversary by world famous conductor and composer Derek Broadbent.
The band's annual Proms concert - with mezzo soprano Sarah Best - will be held on September 27 at the Michael Herbert Hall, Wilton. The band is also rehearsing for the Evesham Entertainment Contest in November.
