MORE than £650 has been raised for Salisbury's upcoming Pride event, thanks to a special touring shop.

Last weekend, June 12 and 13, a Pride pop up shop in Salisbury's Old George Mall was visited by more than 600 people, where they could purchase Pride and LGBTQ+ inspired gifts, pick up information about the Pride event and get advice from the volunteers.

The temporary venue, which was next to the O2 store, is touring the county as part of Pride month, in a bid to raise money for Pride events across Wiltshire this summer.

In collaboration with Swindon and Wiltshire Pride, Salisbury Pride managed the LGBTQ+ shop while it was in the mall, officially opened by Salisbury Pride coordinator and mayor of the city Caroline Corbin.

All of the profits from the touring store, which is currently in Trowbridge, are being put towards Salisbury Pride, Swindon and Wiltshire Pride and Trowbridge Pride.

A total of £660.50 was raised while the store was in Salisbury.

Across the same weekend the communities team at Tesco Extra, along Southampton Road, raised £765 for the organisation of Salisbury Pride.

Salisbury's Pride festival will be taking place on September 4 in Queen Elizabeth Gardens.
