A CHILD ended up getting dog mess on their hands after it was found in a play area sandpit.

The incident has prompted Fordingbridge Town Council to issue a warning that dogs are not allowed in the children’s play area or on the sports pitches at the Recreation Ground.

The dog poo was discovered on Thursday June 10.

A statement issued by the town council last week said: “No dogs are allowed in the children’s play area nor on the sports pitches in the Recreation Ground.

“Dog faeces were found in the children’s sandpit yesterday evening and unfortunately a child got the mess on their hands.

"As well as being very unpleasant, dog fouling carries a risk of serious illness to children.

“Please do not take your dogs into the children’s play area nor onto the pitches. Thank you for your consideration.”
