Alex Horne and Greg Davies have taken to Twitter to apologise after a censored version of the series 12 premiere of Taskmaster was accidentally aired.

The latest series, which aired at 9pm on Channel 4 last night, saw celebrity guests Alan Davies, Desiree Burch, Guz Khan, Morgana Robinson and Victoria Coren Mitchell take part in a series of silly tasks set by hosts Greg Davies and Alex Horne.

However, viewers were quick to notice that all swearing in the show had been bleeped out.

"No idea why @Channel4 have decided that they need to censor swearing on this series of #Taskmaster but it’s really *DING*ing annoying," read one Tweet.

"Why was the swearing bleeped post watershed? @taskmaster ??? New @Channel4 policy? Ruined a lot of the cast member's lines," read another

Horne and Davies quickly took to Twitter to explain that the uncensored version was accidentally aired.

Alex Horne said: "Ah, just come off stage & have been told many times that the wrong versioning Taskmaster played out. Really sorry. Bleeped should be on All4.

"The normal version of this ep will be there soon. And normal service resumed last week."

Greg Davies said: "So sorry the bleeped version of Taskmaster got accidentally played out tonight but I'm so delighted to see so many people livid about a lack of bad language.

"Normal service resumed next week."

Musical comedy band The Horne Section, led by Alex Horne, tweeted in response to the criticism: "We had a great first gig back last night at @windsoretonbrew brewery.

"For some reason @AlexHorne kept swearing but we managed to bleep them all out using our wind instruments. What a relief."

Channel 4 usually shows a 'family-friendly' censored version of the show on All4.

Taskmaster airs every week on Channel 4 at 9pm.
