PUPILS at The Burgate School had the chance to express themselves in willow when Salisbury based sculptor Charlotte Moreton came into the school.

Charlotte worked with 25 pupils from years seven to 11 to create five deer for the school grounds.

Teacher Sally Firino said: “We had an absolutely fantastic day. I had worked with Charlotte in a previous workshop at Salisbury Arts Centre. She had inspired me as an artist and I wanted my students to be able to work with her and be inspired too.

“The pupils were so proud of the work they had created and at the end of the day the deer were displayed for all the pupils and parents to see as they left the school.”

Some of the deer will be permanently grazing and frolicking in the school grounds, while others will be auctioned off at the school’s auction of promises, which is being held on February 26 at 7pm to raise money for a new sports hall.

The school is looking for items or services to be donated for the auction.
