Cala Homes has launched a public consultation regarding plans for up to 210 homes on land north of Station Road in Fordingbridge.

Proposals originally included up to 220 one-to-five-bedroom homes on the site.

The proposal has since been reduced to 210 one-to-four-bedroom homes.

A statement from Cala Homes said that new cycle and pedestrian routes would be included to integrate the development into the surrounding area and over 100 people attended a public exhibition on November 7 which provided opportunities to meet the project team, ask questions, and provide feedback.

The company says a fundamental part of the design is to celebrate and enhance the Allen Brook Valley as an open space available to all, which provides and maintains crucial separation between Ashford and Fordingbridge.

There has been frequent opposition to these plans from local residents.

Cala Homes land and planning director John Richards said: “We are delighted to present our proposals for high-quality homes and green spaces designed in the tradition of the New Forest. These additions have been sensitively designed by a team led by a local architect, in close collaboration with council planning officers, and deliver crucial enhancements to the Allen Brook Valley.

"Cala Homes takes seriously its responsibility to deliver a beautiful, sustainable, open space focused scheme that will celebrate its setting on a site which the council has chosen for housing in its adopted Local Plan.”

Cala Homes said the exhibition boards will be available to view on the project website landnorthofstationroad.co.uk and consultation from the public remain open until Monday November 21.
