Fifty players took part in Salisbury’s second annual handicapped badminton tournament at Five Rivers Leisure Centre.
Haydn Dibble and SMART Performance brought competitors from across Wiltshire together for a day of badminton. The handicap format adjusted games to players’ ability, letting competitors of all ages and standards compete on an equal footing.
More than 20 pairs entered the tournament, which ran from 10am to 4pm across all eight courts. Each pair played at least 12 games, with the handicap system helping to rank them fairly in the later group stages.
Organisers said the format kept the competition close throughout the day. Juniors competed alongside adults, which Dibble said was particularly pleasing.
Marshall BMW Salisbury, Ashaway Sports and SMART Performance provided prizes and financial backing. Organisers thanked the sponsors for helping to stage the tournament.

Westbury pair James Dark and Sufian Shah won the tournament. Salisbury Badminton Club members Dan Brace and Jag Nair finished runners-up.
The tournament has become a popular date on Salisbury’s badminton calendar.
Organisers are already planning the third tournament for September 2027.
