TWO people were arrested on Sunday after a JCB worth about £13,500 was stolen.

The vehicle was stolen overnight on February 11-12 from Green Park Camping and Caravan Park in Landford.

Enquiries were carried out by officers and the JCB was located at a farm in Lyndhurst.

A 51-year-old man from west Wales was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and a 51-year-old woman from Lyndhurst was arrested on suspicion of theft and committing an act with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

Both have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said: “Extensive enquiries were carried out by officers following the initial theft report several days ago. Since then, we have been able to locate the vehicle and return it to the very grateful owners, and arrest two individuals.

“This was a great bit of policing by officers who followed their noses and located the vehicle and arrested two. While they have been released under investigation, we will continue to carry out enquiries in relation to this incident.

“I’d like to praise the officers involved – central to the investigation was a PCSO and two police officers who are new to the organisation.”
