A GROUP of thirty Year 13 economic students from Bishop Wordsworth’s School travelled to Salisbury Sixth Form for a talk by a macro economist from the Bank of England (BoE).
The talk linked closely to their economics course in certain areas. They spoke about deflation in Europe but also the challenges and pressures to European and UK economies. Additionally, they were told about the roll and function of the BoE and its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), which is responsible for making decisions about bank rate and deflation and inflation.
The trip was organised by Mr Kerr, an economics and business teacher at the school. for Friday the 22nd of September. The purpose of the trip was to help better their understanding of role of the Bank of England and also on some of the other topics in their course.
Bishop’s student JJ said: “I found the talk very intriguing because it was a great example of the applications of real life economics.”
