CITY of Salisbury road runner Adrian Webb made sure of his place in next April’s London Marathon by producing a good qualifying performance on the island of Guernsey.
His time of 3hours 19mins, on a course that is far from easy, placed him well up the field in cool conditions much more suited to distance running than the August race sometimes offers.
Webb competes in the veterans’ 50 year-old category and with a personal best at the distance of 3.11, he remains keen to improve his best, an ambition most likely to be achieved in the capital’s biggest race of the year.
In the picturesque Pewsey Vale half marathon, the club’s sole representative Aaron Wilson clocked 1.21.52 to take fifth spot out of about 150 starters.
