BEMERTON Heath Harlequins crashed out of the semi-final of the Wessex League Cup at the hands of Petersfield Town 4-2.
They approached the game in a confident mood, having beaten Brockenhurst 3-1 on Saturday, but had no Jack Slade or Matt Palmer, who were ruled out through suspension, and Neil Williams was unavailable.
Graham Mankin put Bemerton in the lead but Petersfield hit back immediately.
The hosts then went ahead when a deflected effort looped over the Bemerton keeper, and 2-1 shortly became 3-1.
Tom Roberts then pulled a goal back for the Harlequins from the penalty spot before Scott Joyce missed a great chance to equalise.
Bemerton pushed on for an equaliser but were left exposed in the final moments and conceded a fourth.
Boss Ian Chalk said: “You can't replace Jack - he's our talisman and as he showed on Saturday against Brockenhurst when he's on his game no one can handle him.
“We actually played fantastically well on the night and every one of the players rolled their sleeves up and had a go, which was really pleasing.”
