SALISBURY FC's revival continues to be backed by the city after fans packed out the Ray Mac in a second friendly in four days.
Steve Claridge's bag of auditionees earned a 1-1 draw with his former side Gosport Borough on Friday night, which was watched by an atmospheric crowd of 746.
The hosts took a one-goal lead into the first half when Claudio Herbert coolly converted from the spot.
Gloveman Chris Weare, whose bravery and commitment in goal kept Salisbury with their noses in front, was finally beaten with 13 minutes left on the clock.
A screaming strike from Kieran Stephen left Weare with little hope of preventing the ball from nestling into the goalmouth to give the Conference South visitors a draw.
The Salisbury board, who visited FA headquarters on Wednesday for their application interview, expect to hear what step of the non-league pyramid they will be assigned in the middle of this month.
