GOOD bags of mixed fish have been reported from virtually all of the region's fisheries over the last week as temperatures start to rise.

Topping the big fish list is a 16lb common carp caught from Abbots Lake at Waldens Farm Fishery, tempted on float-fished maggot by fishery bailiff, Stuart Greer.

John Simmonds also fished the lake and used legered halibut pellet to catch a 15lb 6oz ghost carp.

The pike season has finished now on Bishops Lake and on the last day three anglers caught 11 pike to 10lb, all of dead trout baits.

On the fishery's other lakes, bream to 4lb from Monks Lake with tench really showing now, plus bags of carp, chub and roach from around the island and bridge.

Mixed bags of carp, tench and an occasional perch from Popes Lake and similar catches from Deacons Lake.

Tench are showing in ever-increasing numbers from Withering-ton Farm Fishery, particularly Cott-age Lake and Barnmoor Lake.

Pleasure anglers are also catching quality rudd to 14oz.

A match on Sunday on the Inner Snake was won by Bob Gullick with 48lb 8oz while Salisbury's Paul Barnard was second with 47lb 7oz.

Damsel and buzzer patterns are proving the best for trout at Avon Springs Trout Fishery.

A buzzer lured a 7lb 7oz rainbow from Willow Lake while a damsel tempted one of 7lb 2oz from Club Lake.
