THERE were no goals in the first half, but plenty of goalmouth action in the top of the table clash between Salisbury City and leaders Histon.

City's Matt Tubbs and Robbie Matthews have been a handful for the Histon defence but have failed to beat Histon custodian Lance Kay.

Tubbs' spectacular overhead kick sailed over the bar just moments before the break, as City tried to make intense pressure pay.

On 42 minutes City should have had a penalty when Tubbs was pushed in the back by his marker - however Hoo referee Ian Cooper gave a free kick inches outside the box.

Jon Beswetherick drilled the ball past the three-man wall only for Kay to save low down.

City then had appeals for handball turned down after Scott Bartlett's throw had been turned across the box by Tubbs.

Ryan Clarke's long kick on 39 minutes found Matthews who battled well before releasing it to Tubbs. City's leading goalscorer unleashed a decent strike but again Kay saved.

Half-time 0-0.
