LOUISA Lockwood and up and coming mare The Diva jumped to an impressive tenth place at Compieg-ene, France, at the weekend.

The Winterbourne Stoke duo took on a field of 96 competitors from 15 countries, in the prestigious CCI event, which was eventually won by former world champion Nicolas Touziant.

Lying eighth after the dressage, The Diva turned in a near-faultless cross country round to move up one place.

Louisa went into the final day's competition with high hopes of breaking into the top five, but a single pole rolled bumped the pair down to tenth, leaving her to rue what might have been.

Nevertheless, it was an encouraging showing from the eight-year-old horse in her first competition at this level.

As well as The Diva, Louisa took Kiama to France.

A disappointing dressage phase meant that he was never in the mix, but Louisa pressed on, ultimately guiding him to finish midway through the order, sufficient to earn qualification to try again at Chatsworth CIC later in the season.
